Ideos means “ideas” in Esperanto, a language created by Ludovik Zamenhof in the late 19th century for the sole purpose of communicating across lines of difference. Zamenhof believed that the difficulty in communication, posed by the different languages and cultures across Europe, were a leading determinant of conflict among nations. Thus, he set out to create a form of communication that would translate across geographical, ethnic and cultural boundaries, with the goal of bringing more peace to the world. That language became known as Esperanto.
